Jewel-Toned House
bellevue hill, nswWelcome to Bellevue Hill, a beautiful hillside suburb overlooking Sydney Harbour! This stunning project was a large grand home built in the early 1900s. Full of traditional features and character elements, our job was to find the balance between refined elegant living and family functionality.

briefTo create a “grown up” space in the formal lounge room & master bedroom that would be free of children’s toys! As well, to create a dramatic first impression in the entrance. With opposing views on styles - traditional & contemporary - we worked to combine both client’s preferences in each space.
Beginning in the entry foyer, a grand curved staircase is already making a strong statement so the goal was to compliment that without competing and overcrowding the space. An equally curved and elegant feature pendant light here is now the focal point drawing your eye upwards and visually connecting the ground and first floors.
The formal lounge room is light filled and has a beautiful connection to nature already via the large windows, however, our vision here was to add warmth to this large space and give it a more intimate feeling. This room is an adults retreat and will be used for relaxing, so we wanted it to feel comfortable & cosy. We added drama using paint colour, wallpaper and timber wainscotting. The furniture pieces are elegant shapes with tactile fabrics of velvet, wool and linen.
ScopeA redecoration of the entry foyer, formal lounge room & master bedroom. These rooms are stage one of a much larger renovation to come which will see the home extend up and outwards to capitalise on the harbour views and north facing aspect.
